Back in May I received an email from a florist called Emily who was planning a dark and moody shoot in Brighton and asked if I was interested in getting involved... The brief appealed to me and so I said yes and the rest is history... What resulted was a brilliant team and the most gorgeous photos! (Thanks Paloma!) The shoot has just been featured on the gorgeous Wed in the Wild so make sure you give that a read too, you can click on the link below! All the suppliers were brilliant and Emily did a fab job of bringing everyone together and setting the theme and colour palette. Although we did the shoot in the early summer the theme was alternative autumnal hues and these worked so well with fluttering candlelight & the stunning ivory Ossie Clark-inspired dress from Hope & Harlequin. Emily describes the shoot; “Our Dark & Stormy shoot is the achingly beautiful bohemian marriage of darkness with romance. A love which almost certainly began on a brooding autumn day and which is so overpowering that you could describe yourself as ‘utterly intoxicated’ with your partner.” As always I'll do all the links below! I also got to design and create the most stunning stationery suite for the shoot which was so much fun! Supplier details and websites

In May 2017, after 4 years of construction, The Curtain, a six-storey hotel and members’ club on Curtain Road opened in London. The incredible hotel features 120 rooms, a rooftop pool, spa, screening room, a members-only basement drinking den; Billy’s Bar, an ornate, flower-garlanded Imperial Rose Room for members to hang out and work in, a live-music space, 'LP' AND it's also home to the infamous Red Rooster ran by Marcus Samuelsson. If that wasn't enough, they have just got their wedding license meaning they're now set to host a range of unique weddings for couples wanting something a bit different. The Curtain reached out to the gorgeous Ellie from The Wedding Enthusiast and asked her to coordinate an almighty LGBTQ wedding campaign with 3 different wedding set ups showcasing the versatility of The Curtain’s spaces. The BallroomAs there was so much to coordinate Ellie reached out to me and asked if I would style The Ballroom for her, a beautiful flexible underground space ideal for dinner and dancing. Of course I jumped at the chance and following Ellie's brief of Luxe, Opulent, Beguiling & Classy we started planning a moody, luxurious vibe. We would be shooting with two gorgeous grooms; and creating a ceremony and a reception set up! I started brainstorming some ideas and we decided upon a sweetheart table for two with a white & gold retro feel and a dark moody romantic classic round table for 8... All the photography was by the amazing Justine Trickett and I'll list all the amazing suppliers below. The LidoThe Lido is an incredible rooftop bar & pool at The Curtain and Ellie wanted to create a chic, cool and playful look. The venue was stunning and the way it was dressed was just insane! (again... full credits at the bottom!) The LPFor the last set up of the day we headed to LP; a party venue in the basement of The Curtain... Think chequerboard dance floor, glitter balls and your own private stage! The brief was balloons, iridescence, decadence and glitter! With two beautiful brides taking the stage this set up was just perfection! So there you have it... If that doesn't make you want to get married at The Curtain then I don't know what will! If you're genuininly interested and want to find out more, then you can by clicking here. A huge thanks to Ellie for asking to on board, to The Curtain for having us and to Justine for the amazing photos! Here's the full credits of everyone involved!

Last month the lovely Alex from The Vintage Parade invited me along to style a feature table and create a backdrop for a collaborative wedding styled shoot with a host of other selected suppliers all of whom are taking part in The Wonderous Wedding Fair on Sunday 28 October.
The shoot was help advertise the Wedding Fair and was to take place locally in Southsea (which made it super convenient for us) Alex had planned an alternative and fun theme with the beautiful social media lovebirds Alice and Ashley White as the bride and groom! (total and utter babes!) Taking inspiration from the moodboards Alex sent over, we designed and created a stunning dark, moody romantic tablescape which matched perfectly with a beautifully fragrant foliage runner created by Bloomin Clares (seriously pineapple sage leaves are amazing... quite possibly my new favourite smell) and stunning stationery from Grey & Copper. I spray painted various shaped bottles with a matte black paint and then hand dripped pale pink wax onto the creating amazing DIY candlesticks... This so so easy to do guys and looked amazing... would 100% recommend! Unfortunately I don't have many photos to share with you of the table in its entirety but hopefully the little sneak peeks you can see hint at the beauty that was! We headed to the newly opened Gisors in Southsea for our venue and the stunning interior created the best backdrop to the table and set the scene for the whole day! Gisors is a real little treat of a venue and the staff were blooming lovely too!
Alice & Ashley were just smokin' hot... Hair and makeup was done by Totally Flawless and Alex had invited along two different dress designers so in total there would be 4 different bridal looks in the day! Louise Rose Couture created 2 beautiful traditional bridal gowns, Francis Campbell Couture created the two more non traditional looks... a fantastic jumpsuit and an amazing ombre and lace gown. In these first photos Alice was wearing a beautiful Louise Rose Couture and an Ashley Wild headband. Ashley rocked a suit from Victor Valentine. You can also see below an incredible cake by Caked Away.
Leaving Gisors Alice & Ashley changed into more relaxed outfits with Alice looking amazing in a Francis Campbell Couture bridal jumpsuit and feather bolero jacket, perfectly finished off with a white trilby from Ashley WIld and jewellery from Little Joy jewellery! You can also see the stunning gilded stationery from Grey & Copper! (so good!)
After a bit of frolicking in The Kings Ship Tattoo Studio we headed to the Hot Walls for a windy ceremony set up using one of our backdrop frames... We decorated it with knotted blush drapery, a foliage runner and a black tassel curtain. Alice changed into another Louise Rose gown and a beautiful Flower crown from Belles and Whistles!!
Finally to end the day we headed to some fantastic graffitied walls in Southsea and Alice changed into a stunning ombre hot pink gown by Francis Campbell, a skyscraper pair of Freya Rose shoes and a custom made 'Til Death' polka dot veil from Ashley Wild! The stunning glitter eye make up completed the look perfectly!
The wonderful boys from Love Up Films also created the cutest teaser trailer which you can see below!!

Over the last 11 months I have met so many incredible people and have made friends with people from all walks of life. I have felt enormous support and encouragement from fellow industry professionals and whilst some might suspect the wedding industry to be competitive and a little clique-y, I can 100% confirm this couldn't be further from the truth! We have in fact experienced the complete opposite!.We have been welcomed in with open arms and if there was ever a situation more suited to the #communityovercompetition then I can't think of one!
I have borrowed some content from The Hampshire Wedding Club to explain the concept, as who can say it better then the lady herself... #quintessentiallyemerging is inspired The Rising Tide's ’20 on the rise’. TheHampshireWeddingClub want to celebrate Hampshire individuals who are, in the words of Rising Tide… “Making waves and raising the tide, rocking their respective industries through hard work, determination and creativity.” Seen as the HWC loves to shout about all that is great about the Hampshire wedding industry, #quintessentiallyemerging is the perfect way to do just that! They have selected 5 businesses/people, who have significantly supported the Hampshire Wedding Industry, for different 5 categories, thus creating = 25 Wavemakers… The Quarter 3 2018 #Quintessentiallyemerging suppliers have all been featured on their website, which you can visit here, and over the next 24 hours each wavemaker will feature on their @instagram page, so make sure you give them a follow!!
So there you go... what can I say but the biggest heartfelt thank you to Beth and Tasha for including us in this prestigious celebration... We have worked our arses off the last 11 months to get Lo & Behold to where it is now and we are both so incredibly proud of how far we've come and excited for the future and what it will bring!! Thank you for seeing the value in what we're doing.. it really means so much!! And a big ol' high five to the other Qtr 3 Wavemakers!! <3
festival (ˈfɛstɪv(ə)l/) noun 1. a day or period of celebration | bride (brʌɪd/) noun 1. a woman on her wedding day or just before/after the event. When I launched Lo & Behold back in November 2017 I could only dream where it might take me. I knew I wanted to create beautiful things and wanted to be able to help and inspire others. I had aspirations of working alongside incredible talented people and suppliers who I admired. But 6 months in, to be asked by one of the Uk's leading alternative bridal blogs to style one of their shoots was just the biggest honour and a real pinch me moment. I had met one third of The Festival Brides at MCWF back in March and Clare ensured me, 'Laura will just love what you do'. A month later and they featured our first styled shoot and raved about what we did <3 Another month passed and Laura asked if we'd like to get involved and style an exclusive shoot to promote a brand new and exclusive Festival Brides wedding venue, the stunning Secluded Woodland, Meadow and Camping Field in Hawkhurst, Kent. Of course we jumped at the chance and it was such an incredible experience working with Laura and interpreting her ideas into a vision we could create! When Laura elaborated on the team involved it was just the icing on the cake. Laura described the venue; a hidden gem, nestled away in an area of outstanding natural beauty, completely surrounded by ancient woodland and wild flower meadows. An overall theme of bohemian romance and a soft colour palette of pastel pinks, blues and oranges, the shoot was all about complimenting the natural beauty of the venue. Our sketches above show early ideas for a bespoke ceremony arch and den area... So back on 15 June we headed off to Kent, the van loaded with our props and we had the most fun working together. Laura had compiled an incredible team of suppliers and end results, expertly captured by the gorgeous Lovaine and her handsome husband Jon are just everything I hoped they'd be... so enough of me chatting away... let me share them with you... Don'f forget to head to Festival Brides to read the full feature (and the blooming lovely words they said about us!) <3 As always I'll comment throughout but will link all the suppliers at the end... Let's start with the ceremony set up... Can you imagine a more beautiful place to say your I do's!?! The Wild Meadow really is a beautiful place for a wedding!! We designed and created this bespoke backdrop featuring hand carved 6ft wooden buffalo horns and beautiful bohemain macrame and drapery. Florals from Bohotanical added the perfect finishing touches. If you're interested in hiring this backdrop you can for £300 plus delivery, Just get in touch to discuss your wedding date and check it's availability! Can we just take a moment to appreciate how gorgeous Katrina looks? Katrina's hair and makeup was done by the lovely Jo from Love Hair & Co she looks stunning in the Harlowe fringed top and Rae skirt from Shikoba Bride and jewllery by Carrie Elizabeth. As you venture from the wild meadows into the ancient woodland there is a beautiful wooden bridge... We dressed the bridge to showcase how you can really make an entrance to your ceremony for your guests / bridal party... This is the first of two sweet heart tables we created on the day... Gwenda from Bohotanical created a lush cascading floral design on the table which we accompanied with wild grass hand tied napkins, place settings from Wonderland Invites, candles from Evermore London and crystals from She Lost Control London... The end result was delicate, romantic and beautiful. I adore this look!! With fabric braided into her hair and a tasselled cape Katrina looks every inch the festival bride! I'm particularly in love with the delicate jewellery by Carrie Elizabeth and the stunning Velvet Johnstone jumpsuit and crystal cape by Velvet Johnstone for Florence & Dot <3 The lovely Jenna from Wonderland Invites designed and created the most perfect complimentary stationery for the shoot! The sat along side the soft hues of the florals, candles and crystals just beautifully. Shoots also allow us to show off our new props, like this stunning Macramé backdrop... get in touch with us if you're interested in hiring it for your wedding / event! This was one of the most fun areas we created, deep in wild woodland, next to a babbling stream was a huge fallen tree, beneath the branches we created hidden den and then decorated it with colourful lengths of chiffon making a stunning backdrop / chill out space <3 In this look Katrina looks effortlessly gorgeous in a stunning Chantel Lauran Mae from Rock The Frock Bridal with more gorgeous jewellery from Carrie Elizabeth and a wild bouquet from Bohotanical. For our second table set up we stripped back all the flowers and created a laid bare spiritual table adorned with vintage amber glass, healing crystals and warm candlelights... The layered plates and mismatched vintage furniture created an eclectic vibe yet still soft and feminine <3 Quite different from a traditional wedding table but I love it, I hope you do too! So there you have it... amazing huh?! A huge thank you again to Laura for asking us to be a part of this shoot... we enjoyed every moment! Check out the full supplier list below and make sure you read the full feature on Festival Brides now.

Back in July we were asked by the gorgeous India to help out on her engagement shoot and to also create a little fancy picnic set up on the beach in Southsea. India and Oli are to be married in December so as a contrast they wanted a summer themed shoot and thankfully the heatwave delivered!! We spent a fab morning letting of smoke bombs and frolicking in the sea.... As a day of work goes it was pretty great! India works for Maids to Measure so has an amazing eye for detail... she had designed a stunning motif for the wedding: think swans, stars and roses... using this as inspiration India shared with me her ideas and I loved it all... We got planning a beautiful OTT picnic set up and Indi pulled together a team of Southsea creatives. Jason Williams took all the photos on the day and they're amazing! I'm excited to share them with you. We did a few different set ups throughout the day so I'll share them in turn and then do full credits at the end.... To start the morning off, the best dressed couple in Southsea took a little stroll along the sea front. India looked insane in a beautiful Andrea Hawkes Bridal gown and a Lack Of Colours Hat. Ollie looked incredibly dapper in a traditional dinner suit and bowtie! Next we headed to Canoe Lake.... Next we gave the early morning dog walkers a bit of entertainment as we pioneered 3 seaworthy vessels (an elegant swan, a giant mallard and a bog standard pedalo - sorry Jason) and let of some smoke bombs on the water as India and Oli looked far too cool peadaling round the lake. Looking even more sensational, India rocked a pair of skyscraper Freya Rose shoes and a custom fringed Denim & Bone Jacket!! <3 Next we headed to eastney beach, which thanks to the scorching sun looked more like the plains of Africa! India changed up her look with a red rose floral crown, a pale pink Maids To Measure Gown and STUNNING personalised trainers from one of her bridesmaids, the gorgeous Roisin! Oli dressed down for the occasion too and after some stunning portraits in the dried long grass, they chilled with a champagne and gilded strawberry picnic! For this beautiful set up I used India's red rose /gold theme to inspire my colours and wanted to bring an over the top boho luxe picnic vibe, I mixed soft furnishings, with vintage rugs, faux fur throws and vintage shawls. Lots of long taper candles in vintage cut glass sticks added a bit of elegance (although the seaside winds meant lighting them didn't happen) I also made some cute bespoke place settings with a gilded edge and thanks to gilder friend Richard I also made sure the bright red strawberries didn't miss out on the gold attention! I love the finished look and the photos Jason took just glow with warmth and love and indulgence! Perfection <3 For the last look of the day, the lovebirds headed to the beach and right on into the sea... armed with a giant swan and rocking another stunning Maids to Measure gown. Echoing the gold detailing in India's Jacket Freya Rose's insane gold shoes were the most perfect finishing touch atop of our giant golden star! Incredible huh?? I can't wait to see their wedding, we've been asked to provide some props and help set up and I can promise you... it's going to be incredible!! Full Credits, Website Links & Instagram Profiles:

I'm making no promises...} I thought it'd be fun to share with you some event styling ideas that are perfect for this time of year... These can be applied weddings, parties and events, and are simple enough for you to do without paying out lots. Because it's the start of the shift in seasons, into my favourite time of year... I focussed on neutral tones with lots of amber and green. Anyway... I hope you enjoy this little post and that they give you a little inspiration for styling an upcoming party or event...
Every now and again I get asked to do something and I have to pinch myself that this is my job, that I get to do these wonderful things and make a living from it. It was one of these moments when I received an email from the lovely Rachael back in June... "Hi, I’m wondering if you can help please, I’m planning to propose to my girlfriend on the 30th August at The Glade, the beautiful glamping space at The Barn at Avington! I want to make the space as magical and romantic as possible with lighting, candles and a few props perhaps for instance bohemian textiles etc. Is this something you would be able to help with? " Of course my inner utter romantic squealed at this opportunity and lots of emails started going back and forth between Rachael and I discussing how we could make it as romantic as possible for her girlfriend Francesca. Rachael explained that she wanted to add to the natural beauty of The Glade and was keen for me to bring in lots of bohemian touches & soft furnishings. She'd also been collecting lots of wine bottles from various date nights and special occasions and hiding them away with tags on reminiscing of the occasion and wanted to incorporate these into the styling (such a cute idea) I got planning and came up with a design idea which I sent to Rachael... I have started doing these little sketches recently as they help me, and my customers, better visualise what I'm thinking... Having not been to The Glade Before I wanted to focus the styling around the gorgeous camp. I also made Rachael & Francesca a bespoke sign with a favourite love quote on. Rachel loved the ideas I was proposing and we arranged a visit to The Glade to have a look around and for me to collect the bottles and tags so I could re-write them... The Glade itself is pretty special, nestled in the woodland with stunning views and the perfect blend of 'back to nature' and the finer home comforts you traditionally miss when camping... We met the lovely Robert who showed us round and explained that the sunset happens on a secret raised platform at the back of campsite so we changed our plans and decided to focus the decor on the raised viewing platform as that was where Rachael was going to propose, with just a few props around the fire pit and near to the sleeping structure... On Wednesday we headed down to The Glade around 5pm and spent a couple of hours adding our special touch to an already incredible venue...It was so exciting thinking that Rachael would be proposing there very soon and being in on a big secret! We used lots of pampas grasses, vintage soft furnishings, Moroccan lanterns and candles everywhere... We created a trail of lights through the trees to the raised platform and added a bottle of champagne and some sweet treats to make the set up even sweeter... As it approached 7.30pm and the arrival of the girls, Maxwell lit the two fire pits and I made sure everything was perfect... Want to see..? So there you have it... We had such fun and it was so lovely to be able to make a special event, even more special. To be able to be in on the secret and share in their joy <3 And it's good news, she said YES!!!!!!
"Everything was just perfect, I couldn't have asked for anything better, you are amazing! Thank you so so much, without you this wouldn't have been the same. You helped me realise the vision in my head to make sure it was as romantic as I hoped. She said yes... and she cried a lot! You did a great job of the wine bottles and the banner is the cutest thing. We will be keeping them for sure to incorporate in our wedding day whenever and wherever that may be." And here's the happy couple... <3 |
